ABOUT
Emma Lawes (she/her) is a dancer, educator, movement director and producer based between Los Angeles and Seattle. She produces live dance work with CO-, a Seattle/LA based dance production and event company, and has presented her own choreography at California School of the Arts SGV, Orange County School of the Arts, Base: Experimental Arts + Space, 10 Degrees Arts + Events, Mutuus Studio and Atwater Village Theater. She is a graduate of the University of the Arts with a BFA in Dance Performance under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield.
Whether in the studio or on set, Emma’s approach to movement focuses on bringing humanity, play, and curiosity to any project she’s apart of. She firmly believes that movement is for every body.

teaching & Choreography
Emma is a dance educator and mentor, currently on faculty in the Ballet and Contemporary Dance Conservatory at Orange County School of the Arts, under the direction of Paige Amicon, and at California School of the Arts San Gabriel Valley under the direction of Bridget McNally.
Past teaching credits include Loyola Marymount University, Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Cornish College of the Arts, The School at Spectrum Dance Theater and Bainbridge Dance Center, among others.
Pedagogical influences include Release Technique, Contemporary Floorwork, Gaga, Countertechnique and Improvisation. Her teaching philosophy is inspired by rigor, specificity, release, joy, research, exchange and acceptance.
